Sisvel Technology’s most innovative technologies on display at Broadcast Asia
Sisvel Technology is participating for the first time in Broadcast Asia, Asia’s most recognized and comprehensive one-stop digital multimedia and entertainment technology event. Broadcast Asia is taking place in Singapore from the 19th through the 22nd of June, 2012.
Sisvel Technology is determined to be among the most prominent players in this event which focuses mainly on the Asian market. China is especially showing great interest in the 3D Tile Format technology. This recently developed technology offers superior image quality when compared to conventional 3D formats most of which date back 20 years or more.. Moreover, it provides a significant advantage by allowing both high-resolution 3D and 2D transmissions within a single channel bandwidth. The Asian market is quickly expanding and Sisvel Technology is in negotiations with new partners, including TV, chipset and Set- top-box vendors and TV and IPTV broadcasters, with the goal of reaching agreements with the entire chain of players involved in 3D transmission and reception. Sisvel Technology’s aim is also to solve the issues related to bandwidth usage cost, the lack of 3D content and the efficiency of TV components that are currently connected to the 3D industry.
During the event, in its exhibition stand – 4C4-06 – Sisvel Technology is displaying what is new in the 3D arena and announcing important new partnerships signed with international broadcasters. One of its newest partners is Vietnam’s State television network operator, VTV Broadcom, which chose to use Sisvel Technology’s innovative 3D Tile Format technology in order to transmit a new 3D unencrypted channel. At the moment VTV is completing the implementation process and test phase for its DVB-T2 transmission network that should allow the broadcaster to launch its 3D service around the end of this summer.
In addition, VTV Broadcom will join the Syndication sponsored by Sisvel Technology that allows broadcasters, at no charge, to exchange contents within a library of 3D programs with other broadcasters using the 3D Tile Format. Thanks to this new agreement, Vietnam’s TV will be able to immediately transmit pre-packaged programs with high quality images and contents for stereoscopic TV with backwards compatibility.
“We have decided to adopt the 3D Tile Format developed by Sisvel Technology for our new 3D channel because it guarantees superior image quality compared to conventional 3D transmissions”, says Trần Nam Trung – General Director, VTV Broadcom. “We are thrilled and waiting anxiously to be able to launch 3D transmissions in our country and to offer a better product thanks to high-resolution stereoscopic images”.
Sisvel Technology’s exhibition booth offers visitors the chance to experience first-hand the most advanced technologies related to 3D, learn more about the innovative encoding format, 3D Tile Format, and meet the company’s main partners. You will be able to see on display the whole 3D production chain: from the professional equipment that TV broadcasters use to transmit in 3D to the systems that allow you to receive the signal, from decoders to mixers, from the master control to the encoder that encodes and compresses the 3D stereoscopic content.
For this occasion, Sisvel Technology has also equipped a “Studio Wall” that allows it to replicate in real time the way a recording studio works and to transmit the most interesting 3D programs that are part of the 3D content catalogue available through the Syndication.
Several STB and 3DTV devices will decode both the audio and the video signal transmitted in the 3D Tile Format to demonstrate the higher quality achieved by this technology in image quality and prove its efficiency on several pieces of broadcasting equipment.
