Sophos Introduces New Wireless Solution and APX Access Points to Provide Smarter Wi-fi Security Management
Sophos (LSE:SOPH), a global leader in network and endpoint security, today announced Sophos Wireless, an easy and effective way to manage and secure wireless networks. As networks evolve and organizations are using Wi-Fi as their access technology of choice, the Sophos wireless solution, including the new APX Series Access Points, enables IT administrators to easily provide and manage controlled, secure Internet access to all users.
“With the increasing number of clients and Wi-Fi connected devices, IT organizations are struggling to keep up. Whilst just about every organization is placing increasing loads on wireless access points and end user service expectations from those networks increase, it’s becoming harder for IT departments to deliver a seamless user experience”, says Walter Narisoni, Sales Engineer Manager from Sophos Italy“Our mantra at Sophos has always been to deliver products to our customers that make security simple and Sophos Wireless does just that. IT administrators now have simpler set up and control of their Wi-Fi infrastructure to deliver a reliable access experience to users, as well as greater visibility to potential network compromises and threats all within a single wireless dashboard.”
Organizations can install Sophos Wireless as a standalone solution or integrate it into their existing Sophos Central platform and Sophos’ Security Heartbeat™ functionality, to monitor and act upon the health status of connected endpoint and mobile clients to reduce the risk to trusted Wi-Fi networks. When using Security Heartbeat enabled APX Series access points, companies can monitor the health status of any Sophos Central-managed endpoint or mobile device and automatically restrict web access on trusted Wi-Fi networks. At the same time, the new Sophos Wireless dashboard highlights potential threats to IT Administrators, such as rogue Access Points, as well as quickly identifying clients with compliance or connectivity issues to allow faster problem remediation.
The Sophos APX Series includes APX 320, APX 530 and APX 740 access points to deliver increased throughput at load to meet the individual access requirements of organizations. With 802.11ac Wave 2 technology, the new hardware is custom-built to deliver improved performance and security to meet the demands of more user-centric networks.
Key Features in Sophos Wireless include:
- Visibility into wireless health
The Sophos Wireless dashboard consolidates all the key information about wireless network health and connecting clients into a single pane of glass for ease of management.
- Simple deployment and administration
Easy system set-up tools enable faster network creation, as well as new site and access point registration.
- Enhanced security with rogue AP detection
The enhanced Rogue AP Detection classifies neighboring Wi-Fi networks to identify
threats and prevent attempts to infiltrate an organization via Wi-Fi connections.
- Multi-site management and cloud scalability
Whether operating one growing network, or multiple sites, extending Wi-Fi is
as simple as adding an additional access point.
- Synchronized Security-ready
When using the Sophos Security Heartbeat enabled APX Series access points, organizations can
monitor the health status of any Sophos Central-managed endpoint or mobile device
- Managed from Sophos Central
Sophos Central is a highly scalable management platform which gives companies a single
pane of glass for all cloud-managed security solutions.
