The North Face Lavaredo Ultra Trail 2015 Wrapped Up
On the evening of June 26th, The North Face® athlete team including Fernanda Maciel (BRAZIL), Manuela Vilaseca (BRAZIL), and Yeray Duran Lopez (SPAIN) made the 119km journey through the iconic Lavaredo region of the Sexten Dolomities with The North Face® Lavaredo Ultra Trail 2015, a part of the Ultra-Trail World Tour.
This year’s race saw 1200 runners coming from 56 countries to explore one of Earth’s most sculptural and distinctive mountain landscapes. They made their way on foot pass the dramatic vertical and pale-coloured peaks. Maciel and Vilaseca snagged the 3rd and 5th spot for women respectively, while Lopez earned the 3rd place in men’s rankings. All three athletes faced fickle conditions on the mountains and pushed their physical and mental limits in working their way through strenuous climbs and steep, crumbly descents. All were rewarded for their efforts with some of the most breathtaking views of the mountain range such as Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Cinque Torri, and the Cristallo.
Commenting on the race, Maciel said, “I am very happy to have finished the race which was very tough, with some small physical problems for me along the way. But, I did everything to force myself to finish the race”. Meanwhile, Lopez commented, “I am happy with my race, an amazing course in a wonderful place”.
