The North Face® Announces New Additions to European Global and Local Athlete Teams
The North Face®, the world’s premier supplier of authentic, innovative and technically advanced outdoor apparel, equipment and footwear, proudly presents five new additions to The North Face Global and Local European athlete line-up, completing a 34-strong team and joining some of the biggest names in Europe’s outdoor, action sports and performance arenas.
Janette HARGIN (SWE) joins fellow Swedes Johan JOHNSSON and Marja PERSSON, to create a dominant team in the freeride field and strengthening The North Face Global action sports team. Coming from an alpine racing background, Janette became serious about freeski in 2007, winning the 2011 Nissan Freeride World Tour and being crowned as the Freeride World Champion at the World Tour final during the Verbier Extreme.
The first mountain biker to enter The North Face European local athlete team is Rob DEAN (UK), one of the UK’s top ultra endurance mountain bike riders, winning a number of 12 and 24-hour races since 2008 and breaking the record for the ‘South Downs Double’ by 4 hours in 2010.
Amongst the additions to The North Face local outdoor team is Caroline CIAVALDINI (FRA), a world class competition climber with great talent in traditional, multi-pitch, sport climbing and bouldering. Taking 1st place at the 2011 Climbing World Cup and the French Vice Champion in lead climbing, her ambition is to push her limits in multi-pitch and trad climbing, stretching the boundaries of female climbing.
Jacopo LARCHER (ITA), a passionate rock climber who has set more than 200 routes in the 8th grade, joins The North Face team as a local athlete. Jacopo has won numerous titles in competition climbing but is now focused on moving to rock climbing and alpinism, hoping to climb on the most revered ‘big walls’ and to open new routes on unclimbed faces.
Alpine climber, Andy HOUSEMAN (UK), inspired by ascents that push the boundaries of climbing alpine style, climbs in a light, fast and committing approach. Over the last few years he has made a number of expeditions to the Great Ranges, climbing new routes and making significant repeats of routes in Alaska, Peru and Nepal. Houseman completes the new additions to The North Face 2012 local athlete line-up.
