The North Face® launches Mountain Athletics® – a new outdoor goal-oriented training concept featuring high-performance clothing, tailored exercise programs, and an app
Mountain Athletics® to launch in London and available across Europe from 22nd
February 2016 Stabio, Switzerland – The North Face® revealed its new training collection designed to prepare users for outdoor exploration. Whether it be trail running, climbing or skiing, the Mountain Athletics® collection underlines The North Face® as the only brand that champions training with an outdoor goal in mind.
The new collection aims to prepare outdoor enthusiasts for tough adventures, and it does this by using innovative technologies. One such pioneering technology is the new FlashDry-XD®, which addresses all an athlete’s needs of durability, breathability, and mobility in one lightweight fabric.
In addition, its abrasion-resistant four-way stretch fabric accommodates a wide range of motion while standing up to the hard and harsh environment of Mountain Athletics® training. Welded seams add comfort by removing abrasive stitching, so users can execute every move smoothly. The North Face® designed the kit with their athletes in mind, and UK climber James Pearson and Spanish trail runner Fernanda Maciel will both be brand ambassadors for the high performance collection.
The Mountain Athletics® collection comes in both men’s and women’s range. The women’s range includes the Dynamix® Stretch Shorts, in which a durable superstretch outer layer is combined with a forgiving inner short to enable you to tackle rigorous sessions with freedom and confidence.
In addition, the Suprema® Full Zip Hoodie combines function with style thanks to modern and clean cutlines and is designed to accommodate your smart phone or music player. The men’s Kilowatt S/S Crew® is robust enough to combat the abrasions associated with rigorous training, yet flexible, light and mobile enough to keep users cool even in high-octane workouts. The Litewave Ampere® training shoe provides maximum support, protection and stability when needed most – on uneven terrain, with TPU Support overlays in the heel, toe cap, and quarter, a dual mesh, CRADLE® heel stability technology and a compression-moulded single-density EVA® midsole.
Darren Cookson, Vice President of Product at The North Face® EMEA, commented; “The new collection aspires to give an extra boost to those athletes around the world who train for specific outdoor adventures. The series has been designed with them in mind, and to confront head-on the challenges that training for outdoor pursuits presents.”
Fernanda Maciel, the ultra-trail runner remarked that “the Mountain Athletics® collection has been great for the rigorous training sessions that I have to do to prepare for my next record attempt on Aconcagua.”
Accompanying the launch of the new range, The North Face® is offering open weekly training sessions in London, Munich, Paris, and selected stores across Europe. These weekly sessions will be based around Mountain Athletics training sessions and will be led by adventure and fitness experts. Using the concept of Mountain Athletics® these classes will aim to prepare outdoor enthusiasts for any upcoming challenges or goals. The training sessions are designed to unlock participant’s true potential and help them to achieve their outdoor adventure goals, whether that is ultra-trail running or rock climbing.
In addition to these classes, The Mountain Athletics® app is available as a free download for iOS devices. The app has been developed for the unique challenges of mountain sports and offers activity-specific workouts, as well as session timers and athlete-led tutorial videos that demonstrate proper technique and allow users to train independently with ease and convenience.
