The North Face Premiere “Shifting Dreams”
Caroline Ciavaldini tells her story from world class competition climber to trad record breaker
Premiered at the Kendal Mountain Festival, The North Face has unveiled team athlete, Caroline Ciavaldini’s epic film – Shifting Dreams – heroing her 2015 ascent of Voie Petit, on Grand Capucin in the Mont-Blanc Massif. The film is now available to watch online at: https://youtu.be/WqUpxCco3PA
The film documents Caroline taking on the toughest challenge of her life; free climbing the Voie Petit, the hardest high-altitude rock climb in the Alps at an altitude of 3500m. Established in 1997, the Voie Petit route is the creation of Arnaud Petit, an award-winning climber and a mountain guide, who was commended for bringing together the worlds of climbing and alpinism.
To follow in his footsteps, sport climber Caroline had to immerse herself in the world of trad climbing, and with husband and climbing partner, James Pearson to guide her, took on the colossal task of training for the hardest high altitude rock climb in the Alps.
“Shifting Dreams” tells the story of Caroline’s move from world class competition climber to trad climber and Alpinist, as she scales the historic ‘Voie Petit’, and what the feat has meant to her as an athlete.
